Are invisible braces a suitable device to straighten my irregular teeth?

Are you embarrassed that, as an adult, your teeth are noticeably crooked compared to the perfect pearly whites of your colleagues and friends?

Although you might think so, it is never too late for braces. That said, the trepidation you feel about wearing metal on your teeth is understandable. As a worker in the corporate world, sporting metal brackets is less than ideal; some might even perceive the orthodontic device to be unprofessional.

So what options are you left with? More than you realise. In this day and age, there are many devices a self-conscious or image-conscious person can choose that are discreet by appearance and comfortable to wear, invisible braces in Luton being one of them.

Why would invisible braces in Luton work for me and how can the device complement my lifestyle?

These types of transparent braces are not just discreet; they are virtually unseen to the untrained eye.

What does this mean for you? In a word, anonymity. You will not draw unwanted attention because you are wearing braces. You can engage in conversations, present your work findings in presentations and enjoy a coffee with your colleagues without anyone knowing that you, at that moment, are straightening your teeth with an invisible aid.

Clear braces could be your solution to straightening teeth if you are a shy person who hates the limelight, or a career-focussed individual who needs to uphold a professional work image.

You do not have to wear this orthodontic device all the time. You must remove it when you eat and brush your teeth, and you should also take it out of your mouth if you play a contact sport. Eating brace free does away with the inconvenience of getting food morsels stuck in your wires – something you may experience with conventional braces. At the same time, you do not have to change your cleaning habits much. Just be sure to clean your appliance – a dirty retainer is unhygienic and can pose a threat to your oral health.

How does the straightening method work and is it different from traditional methods?

Your teeth are straightened, or your overbite corrected using multiple aligner trays, which you are expected to replace with a new set every two weeks, under the advisement of your orthodontist.

Each pair of retainers, while similarly shaped, is a slightly different version of the last. There is a reason for this. Clear braces straighten teeth in stages, a few at a time, which is different from regular braces that place pressure on all your teeth at once using brackets and archwires.

If your orthodontist decides that you are a suitable candidate for braces, he or she will devise a treatment using 3D technology that is unique to you. This technology maps out how your teeth will move over treatment, even providing you with a more or less accurate prediction of how your teeth look once treatment has ended.

Is there anything else I should know before I start treatment?

There are a couple of things you should take note of before diving right into the programme. For one, the ideal candidate for these braces should be somewhat responsible and possess a high level of self-discipline. You will probably remove your aligners a few times a day, so you need to remember to place them back into your mouth afterwards. You will have to pay for an extra set if you misplace them, which could be a costly endeavour if you are absent-minded. Carry around a case with you in which you can store your device when you are not using it.

Wanting a straightening aid that is discreet and low maintenance? Clear braces might be for you!
