A brief guide to these days out
Have you been invited by friends to a virtual experience for a party?
Unless you have been lucky enough to purchase a virtual reality headset in the past or are a fan of immersive gaming, you may be puzzled about how such an experience can equate to an interesting or even a fun day out.
As these types of experience days are growing in popularity across the UK, many people are researching what to expect when they attend a virtual reality experience in London, as it can be a very different day out altogether!
So, if you are one of the many people who associate virtual reality with space shows and films based centuries in the future, read on to see how this can be harnessed into a fun and memorable day out!
What is virtual reality?
The title really gives it away; any type of virtual reality experience near London is based on a false reality.
Devised by engineers, virtual reality can be harnessed to create a world in which you are involved in anything from selling clothes to defeating aliens! You will be able to move about as if you were in this world, interact with other players and, depending on how sophisticated your headset and kits are, you may be able to move things in the virtual world, making it more immersive.
Of course, based on this, it is easy to see how such immersive experiences can be used to make games!
How does it work?
When you and your friends attend a virtual reality experience around London, you will be given a helmet to wear and (depending on the type of game), you may be given a blaster gun or another weapon type.
Virtual reality kits vary in sophistication and so, depending on the arena, you may be fitted with gloves to allow you to move things around in the game, but this is quite rare. Usually, you will put the helmet on and the team will turn the game on, allowing you and your friends to become fully immersed in a fake reality through sight and sound. Cool, huh?
What can we expect on the day?
So, once you and your friends arrive at your chosen virtual reality arena, the staff will give you a demo session, which will allow you all to familiarise yourself with the equipment you will be using throughout the day.
Depending on the length of your day out and how many of you are attending, you may be split into two or more teams and will be able to compete against each other!
Although many virtual reality arenas offer a range of immersive gaming options, the most popular usually involve either an apocalyptic backdrop or some kind of invasion; these are fun but always check age limits before booking.
Each game will last up to about 20 minutes and, once completed, the highest-scoring team or players will be displayed; you may even get medals! Now that’s a fun day out!
