A strong and safe option

Many people, when they lose one or more teeth, feel that the only options they have is to choose conventional treatments such as crowns or dentures. These mostly work on a purely cosmetic level, by bridging the gap within the patient’s mouth by sitting on their gumline and using the surrounding teeth for support.

Over time, dentures and crowns can be the cause of severe discomfort, embarrassment and other other problems. This is why anyone who is missing one or more teeth ought to speak to a local provider about Dental Implants Navan.

In doing so they can have their eligibility for implants determined by a professional and – providing they are fit enough – could have their entire life changed forever by the permanent structural support and cosmetic advantages that dental implants bring.

How do dental implants work?

As mentioned, most people – when they lose one or more teeth – tend to opt for conventional treatments such as crowns, dentures or bridges, which sit on the patient’s gum-line and block the space where they are missing a tooth on a cosmetic basis.

Although they are cheaper than dental implants, these sorts of treatments leave the patient susceptible to a number of long-term problems – both orally and socially.

Dental implants, on the other hand, are a permanent solution for patients who have lost one or more teeth. Rather than sit on the inside of the patient’s gum and rely on support from their sorudnoung teeth, dental implants are permanently embedded inside the patient’s jawbone.

This means that they can be used with all of the strength and confidence that a patient would exert if all their teeth were real.

Although dental implant treatment may be comparatively more experience than crowns or bridges, in the long run they are a far more cost-effective option as patient’s rarely have to make return visits to the practice after having an implant installed. in factm dental implants are often so comfortable – once installed – that patients forget they are there to begin with!

This is in stark contrast to treatment such as dentures which usually require several return visits to the dentist’s chair, and often get more uncomfortable as time progresses.

What does the dental implant procedure involve?

Any patient who is interested in seeking out dental implants must initially have to undergo an extensive dental consultation and examination. This is because – as a surgical procedure is required – it is essential that the patients gums and teeth are healthy enough to carry out the treatment.

After this, the process of installing the implant typically goes as follows:

  1. Firstly a small hole is drilled surgically in the space where the implant will be installed. This hole goes into the patient’s jawbone, and after it is made the practitioner places a titanium-alloy socket into the hole and closes it over to heal.
  2. Next follows a healing period in which the bone within the patient’s jaw and the titanium-alloy within the socket merge themselves together. This usually happens over a few weeks – during which time the dental practice constructs a denture which will go into the socket. These are always seificalyl coloured to match the surrounding teeth.
  3. Finally the socket is opened up, and the denture is fixed in place. As dental implants are fixed in a way which is fundamentally identical to natural teeth, they can be used with the same integrity and confidence.

Anyone who wants to find out more about dental implants, or determine their eligibility, should speak to a trusted provider today and get themselves on track to a healthier oral future.
