A chance to perfect that smile?

It isn’t uncommon for people with mild misalignments of their teeth to believe that it isn’t worth fixing and that they just have to live with the potential judgement and prejudice that comes with people’s assumptions of crooked teeth.

However, there are more negative factors that come into play when a person does not have straight teeth than one would realise. Crooked teeth are harder to clean and that build up of bacteria can be the cause of bad breath, unsightly plaque build-up and decay.

People can have problems with chewing their food and when teeth are not aligned in the gum properly it can be a contributor to gum disease and result in a higher risk of injury. When teeth do not sit together properly in the mouth, enamel can also be worn down and many people experience pain in the jaw, teeth or gums as a result.

The association that people have with intelligence, social background and trustworthiness to straight and white teeth is nothing new and unfortunately is of great concern for people who have a crowded mouth of their own. Self-confidence issues could well be one of the leading contributors to some statistics comparing the two, but this fact should not be overlooked either.

When it comes to having a smile that the owner is not proud to share, there comes an issue that needs to be dealt with. Invisalign in Clapham can offer those patients who do not have severe misalignments of their teeth the chance to perfect that smile and to give them some of the tools they need to move onwards and upwards in their social and business lives.

How can it be done?

By seeking advice from a dentist and having an initial consultation to see if a patient is suitable for clear aligners as their straightening treatment, patients are taking the first steps in improving their smiles and their lives.

A dentist will be able to perform a number of checks and complete several scans to ensure that this treatment is right for their patient. An extremely popular method that is great for both teenagers and adults alike, these clear aligners are both discreet and removable so there is little impact on their day-to-day lives and activities.

It is important to wear the aligners for more than 20 hours every day and new models are available that allow the aligner wearers, or the parents of these wearers, know whether they are being worn for long enough or not.

By being provided with a new set of these clear aligners that are specifically made for them every couple of weeks, patients gradually move towards their goal in a proactive way. They can see the results come alive before their eyes and this then encourages wearers to persevere with the treatment.

It is never too late to take the plunge and do something about that wonky smile that has caused so much grief in the past. By using modern day straightening devices to correct those slight misalignments, everyone is able to create the smile of their dreams.
